The Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) convened its 2022 Annual General Meeting (AGM) with a resolute commitment to championing sustainable industrial practices and fostering collaborations that strengthen the entire value chain.

The event, held in Ho, brought together industry leaders, government representatives, and key stakeholders to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing Ghana’s industrial sector.

One of the key highlights of the AGM was the presentation of the financial statements for the year 2022, showcasing the AGI’s fiscal health and strategic initiatives undertaken throughout the year. The financial report indicated a robust performance, reflecting the resilience of the industrial sector amid global uncertainties.

In his opening address, the AGI National President, Dr. Kwesi Humphrey Ayim Darke, underscored the pivotal role of the AGI in advocating for policies that promote sustainable industrial practices.

He emphasized the importance of aligning industrial growth with environmental responsibility, acknowledging the global imperative to address climate change and reduce carbon footprints.

“As the voice of Ghana’s industries, we recognize our responsibility to lead by example and promote sustainable practices across all sectors. Our commitment goes beyond economic considerations to encompass environmental and social responsibilities,” Dr Kwesi Humprey Ayim Darke stated.

The AGI leadership expressed optimism about the potential impact of these collaborations in enhancing the competitiveness of Ghana’s industries and contributing to the overall economic development of the country.

Government officials present at the AGM commended the AGI for its proactive approach to sustainability and collaborative efforts. They pledged continued support for policies that align with the shared goal of sustainable industrial development.

As the AGI concludes its 2022 AGM, the association stands poised to play a leading role in shaping the future of Ghana’s industrial landscape. The commitment to sustainable practices and collaborative initiatives reflects a forward-thinking approach that not only ensures economic growth but also preserves the environment for future generations.

During his welcome remarks, the Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Letsa, emphasized that the nation can only grow competitively through sufficient incubation of the business industry if the economy operates on the producing end rather than the reviving end. Dr. Letsa noted that trade and investments are major sources of employment, making goods and services available to consumers at very competitive rates.
