The Municipal Chief Executive of Asante Akyem, Rev. Dr Ekow Ebenezer Aidoo, has revealed that his office is committed to completing all 23 legacy projects started by the previous NPP administration in the municipality.
The MCE disclosed that since coming to office about seven months ago, he has supervised the completion of five of these legacy projects, including the CHPS compounds at Nsiakrom and Agyareago.
The Agyareago project, according to the MCE, had a lot of problems associated with it including a poor drainage system, a caved in manhole and all cables meant for the project stolen.
All the defects have been corrected while new cables have been purchased resulting in the completion of the project pending commissioning.
The Asante Akyem Central MCE has also started a CHPS compound at Ohene Nkwanta which is at roofing stage, and another at Konongo Habitat which is currently at window level of construction.
“We were fast, when I assumed office I told my engineers that definitely the common fund will come so these are our projects. Do all the necessary documentation so that the day the common fund arrives we move straight to the tendering process, and it helped a lot,” said Rev. Dr Ebenezer Aidoo.
Meanwhile, the Asante Akyem Central MCE has built fourteen merchandised boreholes awaiting meters and electrification for commissioning.
Rev. Dr Ekow Ebenezer Aidoo also announced that plans are far advanced to construct a Science Technology and General Mathematics (STEM) school from the kindergarten to Junior High School level at Nyabo in the Asante Akyem Central constituency.
On sanitation, the MCE says his office has purchased 40 new huge waste bins scattered across the community in locked cages, to keep the municipality clean at all times.
The MCE believes with the support of the community they can transform Asante Akyem Central into a modern town with all amenities available for the people.
“It is my wish that together with the people, we are able to complete all developmental projects including the new Konongo market redevelopment, construction of Konongo inner town roads that will culminate in placing the constituency in a position that will be the envy of others,” he said.
