AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine set to construct 24-unit classroom block at Obuasi cluster of schools

After successfully delivering on its promise with the commissioning and handover of a 9-unit classroom block at Sanso to the Ghana Education Service (GES), AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine is poised to make history once again.

The mining giant is set to construct a 24-unit classroom block at the Obuasi Cluster of Schools, a project that is expected to become one of the largest and most modern public basic school facilities in the country.

At a brief ceremony to cut the sod for the commencement of construction, the Community Relations Manager of AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine, Mr Edmund Oduro Agyei, stated that the project aligns with the Mine’s purpose statement: “Mining to empower people and advance societies.”

He emphasised that the initiative also fulfils AngloGold Ashanti’s commitment under its 10-Year Socio-Economic Development Plan (SEDP) to enhance access to quality education in its host communities.

The two-storey, 24-unit classroom block, to be built at the Obuasi Cluster of Schools, is designed to address infrastructural deficits within the basic education sector by providing a safe, functional, and conducive environment for effective teaching and learning.
