Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, is optimistic about the improvement of Ghana’s healthcare system.

He expressed this sentiment while commending the Zakaria family for the construction of the newly built Aisha Hospital in Tamale.

He noted that the family’s significant investment in providing healthcare to the people of the area, as well as to Ghana and beyond, exemplifies patriotism and should serve as an example to all.

The Speaker recalled his initial encounter with the family that erected this new healthcare center.

During the opening of the hospital, the NDC stalwart, who serves as a life patron of the hospital, reminisced about the warm reception he received from the hospital’s director.

“When I came, I met this beautiful young girl who says you are the director of the facility but she was consulting at the Tamale hospital, the Tamale Teaching Hospital. I had to ask a few questions. And they gave me all the brains behind and the efforts that have been made to put this facility together. I had no alternative than to commit myself to making sure that we succeed this time around to make a difference in the health delivery system.”

According to him, “The hospital will not succeed without your contribution and support of our efforts. So it’s important that we listen to each other.”

Meanwhile, former President John Mahama has commended private individuals for their ongoing contributions to bolster the state’s healthcare provision, acknowledging the sector’s numerous challenges.

John Mahama extended his appreciation to the dedicated team responsible for bringing Aisha Hospital to fruition, including doctors, nurses, and staff.

Medical Director for Aisha Hospital, Dr Sheila Isahaku revealed that the facility is in need of more space to house some of its ultramodern gadgets to improve health.

“The facility is challenged with space to accommodate very critical equipment. MRI, CT Scan and X-Ray which cost the facility over US$1 million.”
