AirtelTigo has paid GH₵1 million debt owed to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
This was after the ECG Accra West Region operations team stormed the company’s premises Monday morning to demand payment of accrued bills.
After a prolonged negotiation between the Managers of ECG and the telecoms operator, the two parties agreed that AirtelTigo makes an upfront payment of GH₵1 million or risk being disconnected.
The latest from the team left behind by the ECG to ensure that the company makes the payment is that AirtelTigo has paid the GH₵1 million debt.
Earlier, the ECG team disconnected the Accra Digital Centre for owing some GH₵600,000, after a failed negotiation between the two parties.
Other companies visited by the revenue mobilisation team so far include FanMilk Ghana and the Accra Breweries PLC.
The visit to both companies, according to the ECG, was to compliment management of both companies for the swift and consistent payment of their electricity bills.
The operation continued in other parts of the Accra West Region.
