Ahtoo Montessori School, located in the Greater Accra Region, has made major international strides at the just-ended robotics competition in the United Kingdom.

The school won three major awards at the event, including the Robot Design Award, the Judges’ Award and the Outstanding Coach Award, which was presented to Daniel Forson.

These achievements reflect Ahtoo Montessori’s growing interests and commitment to practical STEM education which highlights the impact of strategic aid to supporting schools’ access global opportunities.

The event formed part of the FIRST LEGO League Challenge, a global programme for learners aged 9 to 16 that develops skills in coding, engineering, research, teamwork and problem solving.

Ahtoo Montessori’s participation in the competition was funded by The MakersPlace – a STEM education business that works with schools in preparing students for future-focused learning and international competitions.

In the UK and Ireland, the programme is delivered by the Institution of Engineering and Technology.

For Ahtoo Montessori, the latest success adds to their impressive achievements in STEM competition.

In December 2025, more than 25 students from the school travelled with The MakersPlace to the ENJOY AI Global Finals in Wuzhen, China, where they finished as second runner-up in the Battle of Tribes category.

Earlier, the school also won six major trophies at the ENJOY AI African Open 2025.

Director of Ahtoo Montessori School, Dr. Samuel Appiah’s contribution and commitment to practical STEM learning and international exposure continue to shape the school’s direction.

“Ahtoo Montessori is one of the schools showing what is possible when innovation, preparation and opportunity come together,” he noted.

For The MakersPlace, Ahtoo Montessori’s result in the UK is a clear example of the value of strong school partnerships.

The MakersPlace continues to work with schools that want to strengthen their STEM programmes, build student confidence, and connect learners to international competition platforms that expand both skill and ambition
