Top seeds Ahmad Abdul-Samad and Rachael Quarcoo dominated the 2026 All Ghana Badminton Championships, sweeping the men’s and women’s singles and men’s and women’s doubles competitions, respectively.

At the closing ceremony, graced by Badminton President Evans Yeboah, National Sports Authority (NSA) Director-General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, and Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) boss Richard Akpovie, Abdul Samad received three medals for his exploits in the two-day event.

Ahmad Abdul Samad, who entered the competition as the top-ranked player in the country, won the men’s singles final by securing a straight-sets win over Andy Amofa.

Brempong Ofori Acheampong won bronze in the competition when he defeated Evenezer Narkoah.

Thirty minutes later, Abdul-Samad was back on the court, this time as partner to Ebenezer Kwame Kporampong against the pair of Andy Amofa and former number one, Leslie Nii Adote Addo in the men’s doubles final. His partnership with Korampong proved successful as they secured another straight-sets win.

Speaking to JoySports after the final, Quarcoo said; ‘‘I will say the semi-final was tougher, more intense, and as a result difficult to cope with. The final was not the same because Jennifer was injured, as you could see.’’

Meanwhile, Miracle Nkemakonam Ofuasia won bronze with a straight-sets win over Charity Naah.

Shortly after securing her silver medal in the women’s singles, Eduam recovered and, with Charity Naah as her partner, won the women’s doubles against Miracle Nkemakonam Ofuasia and Esi Obowa Otchere. The bronze medals went to Vanessa Anyetei and Jessica Naa Lomeley Lomotey, who defeated Michaella Ewenam and Deborah Thatcher.

In the mixed doubles event, Brempong Ofori-Acheampong and Rachael Quarcoo won gold by beating the pair of Reuben Tetteh and Jessica Naa Lomeley Lomotey. The bronze medal went to Douglas Keddy and Vanessa Anyetei, who prevailed over Enoch Junior Adu and Stephanie Bequine.

The Girls Under-19 event was won by Alana Faith Saullo, who secured gold after beating Margaret Amiorkor Sarpei. Kalabel Asamoah Ahingo defeated Miriam Kemeh to take bronze.
