Aglow Farms marks over 30yrs with launch of first frozen chicken line to bolster national food security

Aglow Farms Limited, a cornerstone of Ghana’s poultry industry for over three decades, has unveiled its inaugural line of frozen chicken products and opened its flagship retail outlet, Aglow House. This milestone event highlights the company’s dedication to enhancing national food security and promoting self-reliance.

A 30-Year legacy of nourishing Ghana

For more than 30 years, Aglow Farms has been a trusted pillar of Ghana’s agricultural sector. Operating a fully integrated model from its farms in Gomoa Abaasa, Central Region, and Tuba near Kokrobite, in the Greater Accra Region, the company has consistently delivered high-quality eggs, broilers, and layers to households nationwide. Its state-of-the-art processing plant in Gomoa Potsin, certified by FSSC 22000, FDA, EPA, and GSA, reflects Aglow’s commitment to excellence in people, technology, and food safety standards.

A celebration of milestones and a bold new chapter

The event, as articulated by Founder and Managing Director Mr. Kofi Brobbey Kyei, celebrated the company’s enduring legacy while signaling an ambitious future.

“We are here to mark a new milestone in our journey,” Mr. Kyei said. “This launch reaffirms our commitment to food security, sustainable agrifood systems, youth employment, and women’s empowerment. It demonstrates that by believing in our capacity as Ghanaians, we can reduce reliance on imports and confidently provide safe, delicious, locally produced chicken.”

The event also recognized the invaluable support of key partners. Mr. Dan Acquaye, CEO of Agri-Impact Group, highlighted the transformative impact of their collaboration.

“Our mandate was to create jobs for young people in the broiler industry,” Mr. Acquaye stated. “Aglow Farms has been a vital partner, opening opportunities for employment and economic empowerment. In less than two years, we’ve seen remarkable progress, with Aglow turning the frustrations of youth into opportunities.”

He credited the Mastercard Foundation’s HAPPY program, which has driven the production of nearly 3 million birds, as a key factor in this success.

Mr. Eddie Baafi of AfriGem Global expressed enthusiasm: “This is a testament to the resilience of a Ghanaian business ready to thrive with the right support. Aglow’s chicken is not only locally produced but also locally processed. We are grateful for the Mastercard Foundation’s HAPPY program and look forward to an outlet in Tema.”

The launch also received strong governmental backing. Mr. Daniel Mawuli Kwofie Agbesi of the 24-Hour Economy Secretariat emphasized, “Our vision is an economy that relies on itself. Aglow Farms is essential to this goal. The 24-hour economy believes that chicken should be produced, processed, and consumed locally. We assure you our partnership will continue to grow.”

Mr. Ricky Aboagye from the Poultry Desk of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) outlined the government’s supportive role. “Through the HAPPY program, we’ve sparked youth interest in agribusiness. As a ministry, we champion policies and collaborate to unlock potential. The government has introduced several interventions to empower the industry, creating a foundation for private partnerships to drive growth.”

Products tailored for Ghanaian tastes

The new frozen chicken line is designed with a deep understanding of local preferences and cooking traditions.

The flagship Family Pack offers a uniquely Ghanaian solution. Recognizing that Ghanaian families value every part of the bird and traditionally purchase whole chickens, this pack includes thighs, whole breasts, backs, wings, drumsticks, and gizzards from two whole birds. It delivers the authentic variety Ghanaians cherish, packaged for modern convenience.

The 1kg Gizzard Pack caters to the high demand for this beloved ingredient.

A key advantage of Aglow’s frozen range is its exceptional freshness. Unlike imported alternatives subject to long transit and storage times, Aglow Chicken is processed and frozen at peak freshness in Ghana. This ensures a product that retains its natural juiciness, superior taste, and tenderness—delivering the authentic flavor of fresh, local poultry, perfectly preserved.

Target Market: All Ghanaian households

The launch targets households across Ghana, from individuals to large families, as well as local businesses, offering unmatched convenience, quality, and value from a trusted local source.
