The 8th National Women’s Summit and Expo 2026 has been held in Accra, bringing together women entrepreneurs, industry leaders, and business experts to promote mentorship, leadership, and economic empowerment.

The event was organised by Charterhouse Productions in partnership with Geisha and in collaboration with MTN Ghana.

The summit, held at The Palms Convention Centre as part of International Women’s Day celebrations, remains a key platform for mentorship, networking, and leadership growth for women from various fields.

The annual gathering featured panel discussions, mentorship sessions, business exhibitions, and capacity-building programmes aimed at equipping women with the knowledge, skills, and networks needed to grow sustainable enterprises and strengthen their leadership roles within the business ecosystem.

Speaking on behalf of the Chief Enterprise Business Officer of MTN Ghana, Angela Mensah-Poku, the Enterprise Segment and Product Development Manager at MTN Ghana, Maame Ama Simpson, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting women-led businesses through targeted digital and financial solutions.

She explained that MTN’s participation in the summit forms part of its SME Accelerate agenda, an initiative designed to empower small and medium-sized enterprises, particularly women-owned businesses, by providing access to digital tools, training opportunities, and strategic partnerships.

According to her, empowering women entrepreneurs is critical to promoting inclusive economic growth, as women continue to play a significant role in job creation, innovation, and community development.

One of the flagship initiatives under the programme is Adwumapa, a mobile connectivity solution designed by women specifically for women entrepreneurs.

The package provides affordable voice, data, and SMS bundles with flexible weekly and monthly subscription options, enabling women business owners to maintain seamless communication with customers, suppliers, and business partners.

Beyond connectivity, the bundle also offers additional services such as insurance coverage and access to a doctor-on-call service, allowing women entrepreneurs to consult medical professionals from their homes or workplaces without interrupting their business activities.

The insurance package, underwritten by Sanlam Allianz, provides coverage of up to GH¢8,250 and includes benefits such as hospitalisation support, total permanent disability cover and protection against fire and related risks that may affect small businesses.

She further noted that the initiative extends beyond telecommunications services by creating opportunities for training, networking, market access and financial support for women-led enterprises.

As part of the summit’s activities, MTN organised a dedicated SME Impact Session aimed at equipping women-led businesses with practical skills and connecting them with experienced entrepreneurs for mentorship and business guidance.

The company is also hosting a business pitch competition during the event, where selected women entrepreneurs are presenting innovative business ideas to a panel of judges. The winner will receive a GH¢30,000 grant to support the expansion of her enterprise.

She emphasised that empowering women in business generates far-reaching benefits that extend beyond individual success to positively impact families, communities, and the national economy.

Providing further insight into the initiative during a product session at the summit, the Product Lead for the Adwumapa bundle at MTN Ghana, Josephine Nana Ama Asante, explained that the solution was developed after closely observing the daily realities of women entrepreneurs who often balance business responsibilities with family and professional commitments.

She pointed out that many women depend on digital platforms like social media and messaging apps to promote their businesses, connect with customers, and handle daily operations.

According to her, the Adwumapa bundle bridges the gap between communication and digital business tools by offering call minutes for engaging suppliers and clients, data for online marketing and promotion, and SMS services for customer engagement.

She added that the inclusion of the doctor-on-call service ensures that women entrepreneurs can quickly access medical advice without leaving their workplaces, allowing them to remain productive while effectively managing their health.

“Women are constantly balancing multiple responsibilities, from running businesses to managing their families. Adwumapa was designed to support them with the digital tools they need to grow their businesses without adding to their burden,” she said.

The National Women’s Summit and Expo continues to provide a vital platform for dialogue, innovation, and collaboration aimed at strengthening women’s participation in leadership and entrepreneurship in Ghana while promoting inclusive economic growth.
