Yaw Opoku Mensah, spokesperson for Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, has lauded the former Education Minister’s integrity and track record, portraying him as a man of honour whose work, particularly in education, has earned him public trust and national respect.
Mr Opoku Mensah’s comments follow Dr Adutwum’s official entry into the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential race, after collecting nomination forms to contest the party’s flagbearer election scheduled for January 2026.
The winner will lead the NPP into the 2028 general elections.
Speaking on Channel One’s TV on Thursday, August 14, Mr Opoku Mensah stressed that Dr Adutwum’s political and public career has remained free from scandal, setting him apart as the party’s most credible candidate.
“He is blameless. The things you would normally associate with politicians, you will never attribute to Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum. He is recognised for his advocacy and achievements in education. That is his hallmark, and it is what makes him the national figure we need,” he said.
Dr Adutwum, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe, is widely acknowledged for spearheading reforms in the education sector during his tenure as Minister under former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
He championed Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education and oversaw significant expansion of secondary school infrastructure to enhance both access and quality.
