Adutwum urges calm in NPP, tells Frimpong-Boateng to look ahead to better days

Former Education Minister and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, has called for calm within the party amid recent comments by Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng and subsequent actions taken by the NPP leadership.

Speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile, Dr Adutwum appealed for restraint and level-headed engagement, stressing the need for unity and decisiveness as the party navigates internal challenges and January 31 primaries.

“I will appeal to the party leadership to calm down,” he said.

“When we were in opposition, a surgeon (Prof Frimpong-Boateng) of a calibre being part of the party was a plus for the party, and so if some words are said (by him) and we don’t like it, we have to find some ways to deal with it in such a way that we do not create a situation where he is further vilified through comments by many other people,” he added.

He specifically urged Prof Frimpong-Boateng to exercise calm, assuring him that there is a better day ahead, particularly as he looks towards a future in which he could serve as President of the Republic.

“I will appeal to my older brother who I really respect. I will appeal to him to also calm down and cool down, better days are coming, when Dr Adutwum (himself) is the flagbearer, we are going to bring parties together,” he mentioned on the show.

The former minister also expressed concern over the use of social media to launch attacks on political leaders, warning that unchecked commentary risks deepening divisions and damaging reputations. “It is unfortunate. It is a cultural value loss that we all have to confront as a nation, before even as a party. You will get some unprintable words said about former presidents, it is a broader problem,” he said.
