The Palms Convention Centre at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel was transformed into a sea of white and a sanctuary of rhythm as Adom FM hosted its highly anticipated ‘Strictly Highlife’ programme, treating the audience to an unforgettable night of music and dance.
The event, organised by Ghana’s foremost local language media establishment, a subsidiary of The Multimedia Group Limited, drew hundreds of enthusiasts of highlife music, climaxing the Christmas and New Year celebrations for many attendees.
Dressed predominantly in elegant white, the theme colour of the event, participants gathered on Thursday, January 1, to celebrate a legacy of melody and rhythms that have defined Ghanaian culture for generations.
The atmosphere was electric, captured in vivid scenes of joy and community as celebrated broadcaster Andy Dosty and renowned disc jockey Billy Ocean dropped hit after hit, which moved the most introverted persons at the venue to jump onto the open floor to dance the night away.
The venue was bathed in a sophisticated mix of emerald green and warm stage lighting, creating a premium concert feel that complemented the hotel’s beachfront luxury.
Participants were seen in high spirits, filling the dance floor as classic Highlife hits echoed through the hall.
From the synchronised footwork of seasoned dancers to the exuberant energy of younger fans, the event successfully bridged the generational gap, proving the timeless appeal of the genre.
“There is a certain magic that happens when you put Highlife in a room filled with people who truly love the culture. Tonight was about more than just dancing; it was about reclaiming our identity,” 45-year-old Esther Owusu, who attended the event with her family, remarked.
For Adom FM, ‘Strictly Highlife’ is more than just an annual party; it is a cultural mandate and appreciation to loyal fans and an invitation for new audiences to hook onto the brand.
Many other attendees were in full excitement about the hugely patronised event and expressed willingness to return for future editions of the Adom FM ‘Strictly Highlife’ jam.
