The Mayor of Accra, Michael Kpakpo Allotey, has met with the management of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) to outline priorities for 2026, urging a renewed work ethic, decisive problem-solving at departmental levels, and a stronger focus on results to accelerate development across the capital.
The maiden management meeting for the year centred on internal planning and operational targets, with discussions covering key action areas such as the implementation of the National Sanitation Day programme, decongestion of the Central Business District (CBD), performance contracting for 2026, Internally Generated Funds (IGF) targets, and the organisation of a staff durbar.
Plans to improve logistics and equipment to support AMA operations also featured prominently.
In his opening remarks, the Mayor extended New Year greetings to management and called for a fresh sense of commitment and responsibility among leadership and staff.
He stressed that achieving the Assembly’s objectives for 2026 would require a deliberate change in attitude towards work and a willingness to confront challenges directly within each unit.
Mr. Allotey emphasised that meaningful transformation of the city would only be possible if departments took ownership of their mandates and delivered practical solutions.
He urged managers to lead by example and adopt a proactive mindset aimed at fixing problems promptly and ensuring visible improvements in service delivery across Accra.
