Former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, representatives from Access Bank Ghana and members of the international community and diplomatic corps have paid tributes to the victims of the August 6 helicopter crash.
In separate visits to the Ceremonial Garden at the Jubilee House, they expressed regret about the demise of the eight while on national assignment.
The Access Bank, with a delegation led by the Executive Director of Retail and Digital Banking, Pearl Nkrumah, laid a flowery wreath at the Ceremonial Gardens yesterday.
The delegation also proceeded to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where Ms Nkrumah also signed a book of condolence in honour of the eight.
The delegation included the Head of Human Resources, Nana Adu Kyerematen; the Head of Conduct and Compliance, William Brew; the Chief Financial Officer, Akosua Biama Aboye; the Head of Treasury, Franklin Ayensu-Nyarko, and the Head of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Sectors, Katherine Amponsah.
Others were the Head of Corporate Communications and Management, Edward Nelson Addy; the Head of Internal Audit, Kenneth Abudu; the Chief Information Officer, Emmanuel Morka, among others.
“We at Access Bank Ghana stand with the people of Ghana in deep sorrow. We mourn the tragic loss of eight lives in the recent helicopter crash, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to their families, friends, and all those affected,” Ms Nkrumah told the Daily Graphic.
Diplomatic corps
Members of the international community and diplomatic corps took turns at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to pay tribute to the eight men who passed on in the military helicopter crash.
Diplomats and officials of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) signed the book of condolence in honour of the fallen men.
Books of condolences have been opened at the Jubilee House, the ministries of Defence, Environment, Science and Technology, and Foreign Affairs, as part of the mourning of the departed eight.
Among those who signed the condolences were the Chargé d’Affaires of the US Embassy, Rolf Olson; the Ambassador of the Russian Federation, Sergei Berdnikov; the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ali Ghomsh; the Ambassador of Denmark, Jakob Linulf, and the Chargé d’Affaires of the Malaysian High Commission, Syed Nauzer Iddi.
Others were Administrative Executive of Seychelles Consulate, Reta Odoom; the Palestinian Ambassador, Abdalfattah Alastair; the Deputy Head of Mission of South Sudan, Paulino Choty; the First Secretary at the Embassy of Equatorial Guinea, Victor Cenoh; Deputy High Commissioner of Kenya, Daniel Kottut; the Deputy High Commissioner of Zambia, Albert Mxotyechiina, and the Chargé d’Affaires of the Czech Republic, Moet Denik.
The Acting Representative of UNICEF Ghana, Anne Kariuki; the Chairman of the Council of Ghana Stock Exchange, Pearl Nkrumah; the Coordinator of the Major Mahama Foundation, Esther Addo and the brother of late Major Maxwell Mahama, Michael Mahama also signed the book.
In his tribute, expressed through the US Embassy’s Facebook page, Mr Olson, in his tribute, expressed the government and people of the United States’ condolences, adding that although the sense of loss would not diminish soon, it was important that the nation treasured the memories of the departed and remained proud of the service they rendered to the nation.
Sergei Berdnikov, prayed for strength for the country and expressed the hope that the loss would forge great unity among Ghanaians to honour their memories and service to the country.
Deputy High Commissioner of Kenya, Daniel Kottut, also offered his condolences on behalf of President William Ruto and Kenyans, and saw the tragic incident as a loss of their brothers.
Mrs Agyeman-Rawlings was in the company of her son, Kimathi Agyeman-Rawlings, and her Special Aide and Administrative Manager, Mildred Annan Bentil, when she laid the wreath at the ceremonial gardens.
The former First Lady expressed her condolences to the families, the government, and people of Ghana on the tragic loss of lives in the helicopter incident of Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
GHS, Floral Tissue
The Ghana Health Service (GHS), led by the Director-General, Professor Samuel Kaba Akoriyea, also paid a floral tribute to the eight heroes.
Veteran Actor, Fred Amugi, also came with the marketing team of Flora Tissue, to lay a wreath to honour the heroes, after a presentation of assorted tissues to the government for activities towards the burial service of the deceased.
