Dr Kingsley Agyeman, the Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South, has announced plans to transform the constituency into a key data hub and a thriving commercial and industrial centre.

Highlighting its strategic location between Accra and Kumasi, he is actively seeking support from American philanthropists to address socio-economic challenges, particularly youth unemployment.

Dr Agyeman shared this vision while welcoming a 20-member Christian missionary team, who visited the constituency at his invitation to explore investment opportunities. The US-based group, Journey to Destiny Ministries, arrived with a mission to understand and tackle pressing social issues.

The team engaged with women’s groups, schoolchildren, and traditional leaders, gaining firsthand insight into the struggles faced by the constituents. Acknowledging the potential of such partnerships, Dr Agyeman revealed plans to foster deeper collaboration with organisations like Journey to Destiny Ministries to drive sustainable solutions to these socio-economic challenges.`

“We’ve opened up the constituency to them in terms of investment opportunities, particularly in the mining sector. We also discussed eco-tourism and the fact that the constituency’s location between Kumasi and Accra makes it ideal for logistics, transportation, warehousing, and the establishment of factories,” Dr Agyeman explained.

He added, “What truly impressed them was the possibility of establishing a data centre in the constituency, which could help position this area as the ‘Silicon Valley of Ghana.’”

During the visit, the Okyehene, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin, expressed his support for the initiative, highlighting its potential to combat poverty in the area.

“When I see a group like yours, who are not driven by material wealth but by genuine service—ensuring that a child, somewhere, unknown to you, has a place to sit and a desk to write on—I am inspired,” he said. “If one child can one day say, ‘If it hadn’t been for you, I wouldn’t be here,’ then that’s all we want!”

Following their engagements with traditional authorities, women’s groups, and schoolchildren, the group’s leader, Felicia Foster, reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the constituency’s development.

“Coming here today has been eye-opening. Our organisation focuses on empowering women and girls by providing solutions that uplift them. After interacting with the children, the MP, and the chiefs, we realise there are many needs in this community,” Foster said.

She continued, “We didn’t bring millions today, but we assure you that we will use our network back home to make a meaningful impact in this community.”

The group also made a generous cash donation to support the chemotherapy treatment of a 9-year-old boy battling eye cancer and fully covered the school fees of another underprivileged child.

The group has pledged to return with an investment package aimed at addressing the constituency’s challenges.

Dr Agyeman expressed his profound gratitude to the team for their generous contributions, both to the SOS Village and for their commitment to supporting the critical needs of cancer patients in the constituency.
