A new era of healthcare dawns in Kintampo: Mary Queen of Love Medical Hospital opens its doors

A historic day of hope and healing unfolded in Kintampo as the community and dignitaries from across the region gathered for the grand opening of the Mary Queen of Love Medical Hospital.

Inaugurated on the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, a day also observed as the World Day of Peace, the state-of-the-art facility marks the culmination of a visionary dream and a powerful international partnership.

The atmosphere was charged with gratitude and celebration as Dr. Ignatius Awinibuno, on behalf of the hospital’s Governing Board, welcomed attendees to the ceremony. He emphasized that the day was “not merely the inauguration of a facility, but the realization of a cherished dream.”

A Dream Rooted in Home Soil

At the heart of this monumental achievement is a native son, Rev. Father Samuel K. Balkono Nabare, SVD. Born and raised in Kintampo, Father Samuel’s personal encounters with the gaps in Ghana’s healthcare system fueled a divine inspiration.

The hospital is staffed by some of Ghana’s finest medical professionals, committed to providing quality, affordable, holistic, and efficient healthcare guided by core values of compassion, professionalism, integrity, and accountability.

Dignitaries Echo Praise and a Call for Expansion

The opening ceremony was graced by significant figures, including the Most Rev. Dominic Yeboah Nyarko of the Catholic Diocese of Techiman, political leaders, District Chief Executives, dignitaries and health officials from Austria and Germany, and a vibrant public turnout.

The Member of Parliament for Kintampo North, Joseph Kumah, expressed profound gratitude for the facility.

In his speech, he appealed for a future expansion to include a dedicated trauma center to cater to accident victims along the busy highways in the area—a call strongly supported by the Municipality’s Chief Executive, Mr. Isaac Donkor.

A Community’s Hope Answered

For residents, the hospital addresses a critical need. Many echoed sentiments that the facility would significantly ease their struggles in accessing advanced medical treatment, particularly for women and children who previously faced arduous journeys for specialized care.

“This hospital is a vital contribution to Ghana’s healthcare agenda and the pursuit of Universal Health Coverage,” Dr. Awinibuno stated. “It embodies the call for private sector partnership in advancing national health goals.”

Beyond healthcare, the institution is poised to boost local employment and retain medical resources within the region.

A beacon of hope for families

As the celebrations concluded, the focus turned to the future. Mary Queen of Love Medical Hospital opens its doors not just as a building, but as a promise—a promise of dignified care, a healthier community, and a symbol of what can be achieved through faith, vision, and collaboration.

The management extends its deepest gratitude to all partners, donors, volunteers, clergy, government agencies, and the warm people of Kintampo for their support. Together with the community, they step forward to build a healthier future for all.
