The accused person, Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta

A member of the legal team representing former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, Frank Davies, has revealed that the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) was duly notified of the former minister’s inability to appear for interrogation due to medical reasons.

Speaking in an interview on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show on Monday, 2nd June, Mr Davies disclosed that a formal letter was dispatched to the OSP on 27th May 2025, informing the investigative body that Mr Ofori-Atta was still receiving medical attention in the United States and would be unable to travel to Ghana for a scheduled in-person interrogation.

“A letter was sent to him (OSP) on the 27th May, but the OSP has not acknowledged receipt of the letter, but the letter was sent to his office,” he disclosed.

The comment comes amid renewed tensions between the former finance minister and the OSP, following the latter’s warning that if Mr Ofori-Atta fails to present himself by June 2, he could be declared a fugitive again and subjected to an INTERPOL Red Notice. This would trigger international cooperation to locate and possibly extradite him.

The former minister, who served under the erstwhile New Patriotic Party’s government, is being probed for suspected corruption in five different public transactions.
