Minority Leader Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has said government will struggle to achieve its 2 per cent GDP growth this year.

Dr Ato Forson said it will be extremely difficult for government to achieve its target due to the current crisis the economy finds itself at the moment.

The former Deputy Finance Minister insisted that government will struggle to achieve its targets for the year.

“Inflation is hitting the roof, our cedi is depreciating at a rapid rate, our country’s economy is failing to grow, and we will struggle to get 2 per cent GDP growth this year.

“Just like last year they projected something and we got lower than that. I am projecting up to about 2 per cent maximum,” the Ajumako Enyan Essiam MP said in an interview with TV3 on Tuesday, May 2.

Dr Ato Forson was speaking in relation to the new loans approved for the government by Parliament.
