A deep throat source within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has revealed that the party has decided to postpone the launch of its manifesto for the 2020 election by a week barring any last-minute changes.

On Monday, the National Communications Officer for the largest opposition NDC, Sammy Gyamfi confirmed at a Press Conference that the NDC was set to launch its manifesto on Monday, August 31, 2020.

This was after the party had tentatively set the 29th of this month to launch the document which they say will address the challenges of the people because it’s a collection of the needs of the Ghanaians people after series of engagements with the people.

MyNewsGh.com reported that the National Democratic Congress at a meeting yesterday decided to change the date for the launch of the document to another week barring any last-minute changes.

According to our source, the reason for the move to postpone the launch is as a result of the numerous typographical and printing errors in the document.

It would be recalled that on July 1, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama announced that he had received his copy of the party’s manifesto for the 2020 elections.

He said in a post on Facebook announcing the receipt of the document that “I have received a copy of our manifesto for the December 2020 elections from the Manifesto Working Committee. This document, The People’s Manifesto, will represent the NDC and my social contract with the good people of Ghana. I thank you all for your contributions to the compilation, and as I have promised, I look forward to the Policy Dialogue Series through which I will be sharing details of the various sectors and themes of the Manifesto”.

The NDC’s document was prepared by a 21-member election manifesto committee which was inaugurated in October 2019.

It was chaired by a former Minister of Health under the Mills-led administration, Professor Kwaku Danso-Boafo, and was tasked to tour all the 16 regions of the country in an attempt to solicit the views and concerns of the ordinary Ghanaian regarding how they would want the party to govern them.

The committee held discussions with other stakeholders such as labour movements, civil society organisations and important key players in the country’s economy in order to come out with a well-designed manifesto that will focus on alleviating people from poverty and other economic hardships.
