Ghana Para Sports has reached a historic milestone as para swimmer Promise Aheto becomes the country’s first-ever representative to qualify for the Commonwealth Games.

The global showpiece scheduled to take place in Glasgow, Scotland, from 23rd July to 2nd August.

Aheto secured his spot via a bipartite slot following his outstanding performances at the World Para Swimming Series in Australia earlier this year.

He clocked personal best times of 1:38.58 in the Men’s 100m Breaststroke S9 and 31.72 in the Men’s 50m Freestyle S13, earning the right to compete in either event at Glasgow.

“I want to thank the President of NPC Ghana Mr. Samson Deen, the NPC board, GOC, CDM Glasgow 26, and our Para Swimming Board for their unwavering support in getting our swimmer to the world stage,” Ghana Para Swimming Association President Farida Iddriss said in a statement released.
