My Response to Dr Bryan Acheampong: Facts must prevail

As a concerned patriot within the Damongo Constituency and a committed member of the New Patriotic Party, I find it necessary to firmly respond to the misleading and contradictory statements being peddled by Dr Bryan Acheampong in the ongoing presidential contest.

Dr Acheampong must understand that politics is about facts, consistency and credibility, not selective storytelling to suit personal ambition.

On one hand, he questions why some 4,000 delegates who overwhelmingly voted for Hon. Abu Jinapor as MP did not extend the same support to Dr Mahamudu Bawumia during the 2024 general elections.

He uses this weak argument to mischievously cast doubt on Hon. Abu Jinapor’s influence within the NPP in the Damongo Constituency.

Yet, in the very same breath, he turns around to attack Dr Bawumia and the NPP for allegedly failing to secure a single parliamentary seat in President Mahama’s home region, the Savannah Region.

Choose candidates who can win power in 2028—Wontumi to NPP

Which one is he saying?
Is the Savannah Region empty of NPP representation or not?

Hon. Abu Jinapor’s victory occurred in Damongo, the capital town of the Savannah Region. This is not just contradictory; it is political confusion at its peak. You cannot acknowledge a strong NPP victory in Damongo and still claim the party has no parliamentary presence in the Savannah Region.

That is intellectually dishonest and politically misleading.

Let me remind Dr Bryan Acheampong that Damongo is not a village outpost, but the political heartbeat of the Savannah Region.

It remains an NPP-held seat because of performance, leadership and grassroots work, not propaganda.

Again, during the 2020 elections, John Dramani Mahama won more votes in Damongo than President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. That was expected, because Damongo is President Mahama’s maternal hometown.

Even a first-year political science student understands the concept of hometown advantage in politics.

So why pretend it is some strange phenomenon now?

Dr Acheampong should stop throwing stones from a glass house and focus on what truly matters:

  • His vision for Ghana
  • His plans for job creation
  • How he intends to unite the NPP, not cheap attacks and twisted statistics

This race is not about who can shout the loudest; it is about who can lead best.

If Dr Bryan Acheampong truly wants to be President, then he should:

  • Sell ideas, not insults
  • Unite the party, not divide it
  • Campaign with facts, not fiction

At the end of the day, whoever emerges must carry all of us along. We need unity to reclaim power in 2028, not internal warfare.

Dr Bryan Acheampong should tidy up his politics.

The delegates are watching.
Ghanaians are listening.

God bless the NPP.
God bless Ghana.
