Ahafo Region: Mother seeks help after 18-year-old Ahafoman SHTS student goes missing

A 35-year-old trader, Esther Abesoe, from Anansekrom, a suburb of Goaso in the Ahafo Region, has reported the mysterious disappearance of her 18-year-old son, Emmanuel Bashiru.

Emmanuel, a student of Ahafoman Senior High and Technical School (ASHTS), reportedly went missing from his room on October 30. Esther filed a formal complaint at the Goaso Police Station seeking assistance in locating her son.

According to Esther, her son went to sleep in a separate room in their home the night before. At about 6 a.m., she discovered the room empty, with no indication of where he might have gone.

More than a month later, his whereabouts remain unknown, leaving his family and the entire community deeply unsettled.

On Thursday, she visited the ASHTS campus to meet with the headmaster, Mr. Adu Gyamfi, as well as staff and students, reminding them that Emmanuel has still not been found.

The school community has since joined calls for wider vigilance and support to help locate the missing teenager.

Speaking to JoyNews, Esther described her son as dark in complexion, tall, and fluent in Twi, Sefwi, and English.

She appealed for broader national and community assistance, hoping that increased awareness might help uncover clues.

Carrying an extract of the police occurrence report, she has been visiting various radio stations, urging the public to share any information that could lead to her son’s recovery.

Struggling to control her tears, she said, “All efforts to trace Emmanuel have proven difficult. My only hope now is in God, the police, and the general public. Please help me find my son.”

Her story has drawn public sympathy across the Ahafo Region and highlighted the emotional burden carried by families of missing children.

It also underscores the need for stronger community safety measures and early-alert systems in Ghana’s growing towns.

Police continue to urge anyone with credible information to contact the nearest station immediately.
