29th GJA Media Awards: Luv Fm's Ohemeng Tawiah wins Best Illegal Mining Reporting Award

Ohemeng Tawiah, a seasoned journalist with Luv Fm under The Multimedia Group Limited, has been honoured as the Best Illegal Mining Reporter at the 29th Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Media Awards.

Mr. Tawiah’s recognition came as a result of his exceptional work in reporting on the country’s illegal mining (galamsey) challenges.

His award-winning report, titled “Last Hour Illegal Mining Attacks on Forest Reserves Ahead of Elections,” stood out for its depth of research, strong narrative, and the courage it took to uncover sensitive and dangerous operations taking place in forest zones.

In the report aired on JoyNews, Mr. Tawiah exposed how illegal miners have been invading forest reserves in critical areas, destroying vegetation and water bodies in the process.

His story not only documented the environmental devastation caused by galamsey but also revealed the link between these illegal operations and political activities, particularly during election periods.
