The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, visited the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi to check on a police officer critically injured during violent clashes between two rival groups at Sampa in the Bono Region.
The officer was among eight personnel injured when their police vehicle came under fire during the disturbances and veered off the road into a ditch. While seven officers were treated and discharged, one sustained severe injuries and was referred to Komfo Anokye for specialised care. Police say he is in a stable condition and responding to treatment.

The IGP has also dispatched a high-powered delegation, including members of the Police Management Board (POMAB), to Sampa to assess the security situation, visit the injured officers, and ensure the welfare of personnel deployed to the area.
The delegation is expected to meet with the Bono Regional Security Council (REGSEC), traditional leaders, youth groups, and other stakeholders to help restore calm.

Meanwhile, reinforcement teams from the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit and the Formed Police Unit (FPU) have been deployed to intensify patrols and maintain law and order in Sampa and surrounding communities.
