Presidential hopeful for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, declared himself satisfied with how his vetting went, saying he hopes the vetting committee shares that assessment.
The remarks came after he stepped out of the party headquarters following his appearance before the NPP vetting committee.
The vetting process, which began on September 23, is part of the NPP’s preparations ahead of its presidential primary for the 2028 elections.
Bawumia is among five aspirants being screened, including Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong.
Asked by journalists whether there were any hitches during his vetting, Bawumia said he was satisfied with the procedure.
“They’ve asked many questions, and I have answered those questions, so I’m very satisfied with my vetting, and I pray that everything is okay. I hope the committee is as satisfied as I am,” he said, adding that he believes the process maintained the standards expected of such a high-stakes internal party exercise.
Earlier, former Assin Central MP, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, expressed similar sentiments of winning the party’s presidential primary and leading the NPP into the 2028 general elections.
Speaking to the media after his vetting, Mr Agyapong said he was well-prepared for the election and believes the party recognises his readiness to be president.
“I was prepared. I believe I answered all the questions and they know I’m ready to be president of this country,” he said.
According to him, the vetting committee was interested in understanding his vision for Ghana and his motivation to lead the party.
