The Northern Regional Police Command has apprehended three suspects — Jabuni Mohammed, Alidu Abdul Samed, and Abdul Aziz, for unlawful possession of restricted pharmaceutical drugs and a firearm near Savelugu.
The suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations and are expected to face charges related to the unlawful possession of restricted drugs and firearms.
They were arrested on Sunday, August 3, 2025, after Jabuni, who was driving a Nissan Hardbody pick-up with registration number GN 2812-20, failed to stop at a police checkpoint along the Tamale–Bolgatanga highway.
Police pursued the vehicle until Jabuni abandoned it and attempted to flee into nearby bushland.
He was apprehended, and a search conducted on the vehicle revealed 1,399 blister foils of Tafrodol 120mg — a restricted drug — hidden in a deflated spare tire. A loaded CA161M pistol with six rounds of 9mm ammunition was also found concealed in the headrest.
A statement issued by the Northern Regional Police Command indicated that further investigations led to the arrest of Samed and Aziz, who were allegedly connected to Jabuni.
Jabuni reportedly admitted to working for Samed and Aziz, who had commissioned him to procure the restricted drugs.
