
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has attributed widespread power outages in parts of the Greater Accra Region to a heavy rainstorm on Thursday, June 26, 2025.
In a public statement, ECG stated that the storm had caused significant damage to parts of its distribution network, resulting in power supply disruptions across several communities.
“Our cherished customers are informed that the heavy rainstorm… has caused outages within our network,” the company said.
The electricity distribution company assured the public that efforts are underway to resolve the faults.
“Our engineers are working assiduously to repair the faults and restore the power supply.”
ECG also urged residents experiencing localised outages, fallen power lines, or sagging conductors in their vicinity to promptly report such incidents through the ECG Call Centre on 0302-611611, the nearest ECG office, or through the company’s official social media handles @ECGghOfficial on Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), or Instagram.
The utility provider expressed gratitude to its customers for their patience and cooperation as restoration efforts continue
