The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly is putting in place measures to heighten restrictions on unauthorized street trading in Kumasi as the Manhyia Palace prepares to welcome the King of Eswatini.

The Ingwenyama of the Kingdom of Eswatini, King Mswati III, is scheduled to visit the region from Tuesday, June 24 to Saturday, June 28, 2025.

To ensure smooth activities during the royal visit, the assembly is adopting some key strategic road and traffic regulations during the 5-day visit.

This is to ensure a clean, organized, and secure environment during the royal visit.

From Tuesday to Saturday, traders who ply their wares on pavements from the Airport Roundabout enclave through Dichemso to the Manhyia Palace area, as well as those operating from the Central Mosque to Amakom, have been advised to desist from the indiscriminate trading activity.

On Tuesday, 24th June 2025, motorists using the Airport to Manhyia, Amakom, Asafo, and Adum (KMA) through to Nhyiaeso routes should expect heavy police regulation from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

There will also be strict traffic control on routes stretching from Nhyiaeso Ridge Police area to the Bekwai roundabout on Wednesday June 25, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm as part of the security arrangements for the King’s movement.

Road users are being encouraged to comply with all traffic directives during this period.

All shops in the Central Business District are expected be closed from 6 am to 12 noon tomorrow for a mass clean-up exercise by the Assembly.

King Mswati III’s visit is expected to significantly strengthen diplomatic and economic ties between Ghana and the Kingdom of Eswatini and deepen the historical and cultural links between the Asante Kingdom and the southern African nation
