On Thursday, May 22, officials from the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), accompanied by police and national security personnel, continued their city-wide decongestion campaign with a focus on monitoring and enforcement.
After two days of clearing unauthorised structures, evicting street vendors, and restoring order to major parts of the capital, today’s operation shifted gears.

The Mayor of Accra, Michael Kpakpo, led the teams that were seen patrolling previously cleared areas, ensuring that traders and transport operators were not returning to obstruct the streets.
From Circle to the Central Business District, AMA officers kept a close eye on hotspots where encroachment had been rife.

Below are photos from the operation, captured by Myjoyonline photojournalist Sammy Moore, who joined the task force on the ground.
