President John Dramani Mahama has stressed that the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) must evolve beyond being a defensive institution and serve as a symbol of national unity.

Speaking at the inauguration of the newly appointed Ghana Armed Forces Council, President Mahama urged the council members to approach their roles with commitment and a clear vision for the future of the military.

“As we move forward, let us all commit to working together to build a stronger, more modern, and more resilient Ghana Armed Forces,” he said.

Addressing the newly sworn-in members, President Mahama emphasised the importance of their dedication to the responsibility entrusted to them.

“I urge you to embrace your responsibilities with dedication and clarity. Let us ensure that our military is not just an institution of defence, but a true symbol of national unity, excellence, pride, and progress,” he stated.

He concluded his speech with a call to action: “Together, we can shape the future of our armed forces for generations to come.”
