Zenith Bank Ghana on Friday March 7, 2025 commemorated International Women’s Day with the Zenith Bank “Woman ‘2’ Woman” webinar for staff and customers as part of efforts to help women achieve greater equality.

The event, powered by the Bank’s Z-woman lifestyle service, was under the theme, “Accelerating Action: Addressing the systemic barriers and biases that women face, both in personal and professional speres’”.

The guest speaker for the event, Comfort Owusu, former Executive Director of the Association of Rural Banks, shared invaluable insights on tackling gender inequality, advancing women’s empowerment and strategies for acceleration.

With a life story that spans her successful career as a banker, a mother, a women’s advocate and her journey as a breast cancer survivor, Mrs. Owusu passionately emphasised the importance of perseverance, urging women to stay steadfast and determined to conquer all odds in the face of adversity.

“As women, climbing that professional ladder is never a walk in the park, but you have to set your mind to be resilient and never give up,” she shared, offering a message of strength and determination to the attendees.

Mrs. Owusu spoke to the crucial importance of balancing health, family, and career, urging women to prioritize their well-being, manage their time effectively, and recognize the need to seek assistance when necessary.

“Plan your time as women, manage it well, and prioritize your health. You do not need to shoulder everything alone. Seeking help when needed is not a sign of weakness, but a source of strength. Remember, supporting one another is key to lifting each other up,” she stated.

Her story resonated with all participants, serving as a powerful reminder of the importance of resilience, career progression, health and efficient time management, and in the pursuit of personal and professional growth.

In tackling gender inequality, Mrs. Owusu urged women to actively seek mentorship, build strong networks, and pursue continuous learning to enhance their skills and professional growth.

She highlighted the importance of women challenging biases by taking up leadership roles and advocating for equal opportunities at every level and added that by supporting each other and creating inclusive environments, women can pave the way for more women to thrive in various industries.

The Guest Speaker further urged women to take on every task assigned with the mentality to make the best out of it.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Zenith Bank (Ghana) Ltd, Henry Onwuzurigbo, encouraged women to strive for success in all areas of their lives.

He advised women to be courageous in setting goals and then focus on achieving them ensuring every effort is made to come out victorious.

He encouraged women to support and uplift each other to foster an environment where women can collaborate and empower one another, so they can collectively overcome challenges, break barriers and achieve their goals together.

“I encourage each of us to take what we’ve learned today and put it into practice. Let’s create opportunities that will accelerate progress, challenge biases and champion fairness for women everywhere,” he said.

The MD/CEO reaffirmed the Bank’s commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where women thrive, lead, and succeed without limitations.

Zenith Bank’s “Woman ‘2’ Woman” webinar is part of the Bank’s broader commitment to empowering women through its Z-Woman lifestyle service, which offers Z-Woman customers trainings and partnerships, opportunities to participate in webinars and credit facilities to support women-owned and women-led businesses.

Additionally, the Bank’s partnership with the African Guarantee Fund provides increased access to funding for MSMEs in Ghana, with a particular focus on women-owned/women-led businesses to empower them and give them the necessary financial security to thrive.
