Mobile telecommunication giant MTN Ghana has reiterated its crucial role in society by donating two hundred and eight units of blood to two district hospitals in the Savannah Region.

The network carried out the blood donation exercise on Valentine’s Day in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba and West Gonja District and Municipality in the Savannah Region.

The Savannah Regional Territory Controller of MTN, Ghana, Abugbilla Matthew, said his outfit believes in the gesture of saving lives in the form of showing love not only to their customers but to Ghanaians in general.

“As a network for the people, we strongly believe that when an individual for that matter the people is healthy, the network will grow and expand more and so, we do this every year to showcase our love to all by giving blood to hospitals to save the lives of patients who need it “, Abugbilla Matthew explained.

He commended the donors for their gesture and encouraged more participation in the future.

The exercises were carried out in the Sawla Senior High School and the Damongo town clinic in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba and West Gonja district and Municipality, respectively, where students and the general public actively participated.

At the end of the programme, the company collected one hundred and eight units of blood from Sawla-Tuna-Kalba and donated it to the district hospital.

MTN also facilitated the collection of one hundred units of blood and donated it to the Saint Anne Catholic Hospital in Damongo.

Management of the beneficiary hospitals expressed gratitude to MTN for coming to their aid with critical human health components.

Packages like milk, milo, Malta Guinness, and bottled water, including lunch packs, were provided for the donors.

Two of the donors in an interview indicated that “it’s my joy anytime I donate blood because it will save the lives of others who need it badly,” Stella Nebiri stated.

For Amatus Issufu, he said, “God created me and gave me everything free, so to give little blood to save lives is worth it.”

The network started donating blood to hospitals in the region since 2021 to cushion the various blood banks in the region.
