GIPC Launches 21st Ghana Club 100 Awards at CEOs Breakfast Meeting

The Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) has launched the 21st edition of the Ghana Club 100 Awards during a high-level CEOs breakfast meeting in Accra. The event, themed “Partnering for Prosperity: Building a Thriving Ghanaian Economy,” gathered top business leaders to discuss strategies for accelerating the nation’s economic growth.

The Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) today held its high-level Ghana Club 100 CEOs breakfast meeting, officially launching the 21st edition of the prestigious Ghana Club 100 Awards. The event, held in Accra on July 30, 2024, was themed “Partnering for Prosperity: Building a Thriving Ghanaian Economy” and attracted C-suite executives and top-tier business leaders to discuss strategies for boosting Ghana’s economic growth.

In his welcome address, GIPC CEO Yofi Grant emphasized the importance of partnerships in building a resilient economy. He highlighted the GIPC’s enhanced engagement with both domestic and international stakeholders through initiatives like monitoring, evaluation, aftercare, and diaspora engagement.

Mr. Grant underscored the government’s commitment to economic stability, noting that the success of businesses is crucial for revenue generation. “If businesses don’t work, taxes won’t be taken. Therefore, the right thing to do is to ensure that the businesses work,” he stated.

Deputy Finance Minister Dr. Alex Ampabeng outlined the government’s efforts to create a conducive business environment, mentioning the successful conclusion of the second IMF review, debt restructuring, and the launch of an 8.2 billion cedis SME growth program. Dr. Ampabeng also highlighted the government’s focus on strategic sectors like agribusiness, technology, and infrastructure development to enhance the ease of doing business in Ghana.

The CEOs breakfast meeting, which serves as a prelude to the main Ghana Club 100 awards ceremony, also featured the launch of the 21st edition of the awards, scheduled for October 11, 2024.

KPMG, the ranking partner for the awards, outlined the criteria for this year’s awards, emphasizing the significance of Corporate Social Responsibility in determining the overall winners. A panel session on streamlining regulations for business further enriched the discussions at the breakfast meeting.

Application Requirements and Eligibility for GC100:

  • The enterprise must be a limited liability company.
  • Companies with government interest/ownership should be less than 50% unless listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange.
  • All entrants must have a positive equity in 2023.
  • Applicants need to provide the most recent three-year audited financial statements (2021, 2022, and 2023) in soft copies, along with a Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) tax clearance.
