North East Regional Minister Yidana Zakaria has commended Mustapha Ussif, the Minister of Youth and Sports and Member of Parliament (MP) for Yagaba-Kubori, for his exceptional leadership and efforts in advancing developmental projects in the region.
Since Ussif assumed office in 2017, the Yagaba-Kubori constituency has seen significant improvements across various sectors, including healthcare, education, and infrastructure. Once notorious for its poor road conditions, the area is now well-serviced by motorable roads, starkly contrasting its previous reputation as “overseas.”
Under Ussif’s leadership, numerous projects have been initiated, including establishing a nurses and midwifery training school in Kubori, a Vocational and Technical School in Loagri, and a senior high school in Yizesi, which is set to be commissioned by September. Additional developments include a maternity ward in Yizesi, an NHIS office, a District Court building, several classroom blocks and teachers’ quarters across the constituency.
Minister Yidana Zakaria recently toured the constituency to inspect these projects and expressed his admiration for Ussif’s work. “We want to commend Honourable Mustapha Ussif for his stellar leadership. His tenure has been a blessing to the constituency and, by extension, the North East Region,” Zakaria said. He urged other regional MPs to follow Ussif’s example of dedicated service.
To further boost local sports development, a sod-cutting ceremony was held to construct two Astro turfs in Yagaba and Kukua, aimed at fostering sports talent in the district.
