Businessman giving money in the envelope to his partner in the dark – bribery and venality concept

Some New Patriotic Party delegates are bitterly complaining about missing out on cash supposedly offered as ‘transportation fare’ by aspirants to the party’s flagbearer post.

In an interview with JoyNews, a delegate from New Adenta Electoral Area, Charles, alleged that persons put in charge of the distribution of money offered by Assin Central MP, Kenedy Agyapong to support delegates’ transportation, have squandered the money.

According to him, there are 70 delegates on the New Adenta Electoral Area album, adding that each delegate expected GH₵300, however, no delegate has received a dime.

“Three people have gone to share Hon. Kennedy Agyapong’s money amongst themselves,” a delegate claimed.

He noted that since the delegates did not get what was due them, they had no option but to vote against Mr Agyapong.

He, however, stated that they have received up to GH₵400 transportation support from other presidential candidates.

Asked why they expect to be induced before casting their vote for a particular candidate, Charles indicated that the money taken from the aspirants is not a bribe but transportation since they have commuted from a particular destination to their voting centers.

A delegate from Suame Constituency in Kumasi, also shared the same sentiment, adding that Mr Agyapong’s representatives are not sharing the transportation in his constituency.

According to him, the habit of hoarding the said transportation is very bad.

He added that those in charge of the money are being selective in the sharing.

“I know Ken, he is a principled man,… he made the delegates know that when you give something and the person is not there, you go and give it to the person so why now, that Ken’s money will not get to the delegates, they should share it with the delegates,” he said.

“Many of the delegates have not received Ken’s transport back home,” he added.

Meanwhile, Coordinators at New Adenta Constituency have denied claims that they have squandered money meant for delegates.

According to them, the money did not arrive at the stations on time, and the coordinators are not hoarding the money, but that each delegate will receive their share.

The Coordinator for Mr Agyapong, Simon explained that the representative who received that money to share for the delegates was harassed, he therefore decided to hold on to the money. But he said the issue has since beenresolved.
