FBNBank Ghana has supported several organisations as part of the Bank’s Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Week (CR&S) with donations to the National Polio Plus Committee and selected Rotary Clubs, Music for Quality Feet Incorporated, Village of Hope Orphanage, the Prince Kofi Amoabeng Leadership Foundation, Success in Motion, and Al-Waleed Comprehensive Basic School.

This year’s celebrations of the annual Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Week, simply referred to as “CR & S Week” was commemorated across the FirstBank Group from Monday, October 23 to Saturday, October 28, 2023 under the theme “Kindness: A Way of Life.”

At a short ceremony at the Head Office of FBNBank in Accra, as part of the annual CR&S week, the Managing Director and Chief Executive of the Bank, Victor Yaw Asante, and other senior executives of FBNBank made financial contributions to the various institutions totaling GH₵S125,000. As part of this year’s celebration, the Bank also undertook renovation works including painting and repairs of windows at the Al-Waleed Comprehensive Basic School in Nima. The Bank also replaced computers at the school’s ICT laboratory.

Commenting on the Bank’s CR&S celebrations, FBNBank Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Victor Yaw Asante, said, “FBNBank has devoted a full week to focus the Bank’s attention and efforts on our communities, delivering benefits to the people in a responsible and sustainable way. Through the celebrations, we intend to positively impact our communities and encourage our staff and other stakeholders to make personal and corporate efforts to deliver hope and benefit to persons and communities in disadvantaged positions.”

Mr. Asante further stated that “In all these, we prioritize giving back to society, and it has become part of our culture. Our humble gesture today is testament to our commitment to supporting people. Our commitment to nation-building largely informs our approach to corporate responsibility and sustainability which is three-pronged: Citizenship, Stakeholder Management, and Impact Management. Citizenship and stakeholder management involves considering the needs of stakeholders when making decisions, while impact management is about minimizing the negative impact of our operations and increasing our positive inclusive impact on society.”

FBNBank donated GH₵40,000 to the National Polio Plus Committee and selected Rotary Clubs to support vaccination and the eradication of polio; GH₵30,000 to Music for Quality Incorporated to support the provision of a recreational centre and library at the Nyame Dua Children’s Home in Accra; GH₵20,000 to the Village of Hope Orphanage to support the education and upkeep of tertiary institution students; GH₵20,000 to the Prince Kofi Amoabeng Leadership Foundation to support the purchase of books for donation to tertiary institutions students and scholarship; and GH₵15,000 to Success in Motion to support raising awareness for mental health in collaboration with the Psychiatry Department of the University of Ghana Medical School, Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
