4 Garrison Patrons Day Junior National Squash tournament ends in Obuasi

The 4 Garrison Officers Mess Squash Courts were an exciting place to be on December 5, 2025, as young squash players between the ages of six and sixteen displayed their skills in the sport at the annual Patron’s Day Junior National tournament.

With youthful energy, eagerness, and the unique sound of rackets slicing through the air, the young players drawn from the Tema Racket Club, Dohazari Squash Club, Obuasi Squash Club, and the hosts 4 Garrison Officers Mess Squash Club were ready to sell out an unforgettable display of squash which gave patrons the confidence of a bright future for the sport in the country.

The tournament featured five competitive age categories from ages 6–8 years, 9–10 years, 11–12 years, 13–14 years and 15–16 years.

The 6–8-year category, the youngest division, stole the hearts of spectators. With remarkable focus and surprising finesse, Swain Nana Adom Adjei from the Tema Racket Club outclassed his opponent, Kwabena Boateng of 4th Garrison, securing an impressive 11–3 victory in the final.

The 9–10 years category buzzed with intensity and had one of the largest pool of competitors chasing a single title. The matches were fast, fierce and filled with dramatic swings. In the end, Kwabena emerged as the standout performer, defeating Awal Jnr 11–3 in a commanding final match.

Perhaps, the most anticipated division of the tournament was the 11–12-year category. It featured a rivalry that has already captured the attention of coaches and enthusiasts alike. For the third consecutive year, Stanley Kwasi Oware of the Tema Racket Club and Frank Donkor Jnr of 4th Garrison renewed their battle for supremacy with each having tasted victory over the other in the last two editions.

This year’s meeting was billed as a decider and it lived up to the hype. In the best of three contests, Stanley delivered an emphatic 2–0 win, blending precision with agility to beat his long-term opponent.

In the same age category, Kwadwo Dekyi showcased his trademark composure and stylish play to secure third place at the expense of Rizer Koomson. Rizer, despite losing, walked away with the Most Promising Player Award, earning him a brand-new racket and souvenirs courtesy of Infinix.

Meanwhile, In the 13–14 years division, Walter Amo Antwi of the 4 Garrison Squash Club demonstrated complete control, navigating tough challenges from Aiden Amo Antwi and Bryan Nii Boi to secure top spot.

The 15–16 years group, featured a grudge duel between Prince Agyemang of 4 Garrison and Abdul Rahim of the Obuasi Squash Club. Prince’s experience and power carried the day, earning him a well-deserved victory and closing the tournament on a high note for the host club.

Winners of the various age categories were rewarded with brand-new rackets, trophies, and souvenir packages from Infinix. First runners-up received trophies and Infinix packs, second runners-up were also celebrated with souvenirs, and every participant, regardless of placement, walked away with gifts.

A Patron of the 4 Garrison Officers Mess squash club Frank Donkor, Vice President of the club, Frank Osei (Denero), Justice Francis Kwoffie and Lt. Evans Adu Danso, presented prizes to the deserving winners.

This year’s Patron’s Day Junior National tournament was sponsored by Infinix Phones, Abofra World School in Kumasi, GeoPlas Ghana, Essence Work Ready, Vytal Digital and the Grange Squash Club of Scotland.

Their investment in youth sports continues to fuel dreams, training opportunities and the overall growth of squash across Ghana.
