Fans heading to the 2026 FIFA World Cup have been advised to pay attention to stadium safety guidelines as preparations intensify for the global showpiece.
Chief Safety and Security Officer for the tournament, G.B. Jones, said several commonly used fan items will not be allowed inside venues across the USA, Mexico and Canada.
Speaking at a forum hosted by the Africa Center of the Atlantic Council, Jones explained that the objective is to protect supporters while preserving the excitement that comes with the World Cup.
“With respect to what to bring to the World Cup, we want you to bring your passion, but leave your pyro.
“We don’t want the fireworks with the smoke or the pyrotechnicians in the stadium. But we want to embrace the passion.
“We want to ensure that you can get all your items into all the stadiums. Fans should bring what will help them celebrate, but within the limits set for safety,” Jones concluded.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup runs from June 11 to July 19 across 16 host cities in the US, Mexico and Canada.
Ghana will open their campaign against Panama in Toronto on June 17 before facing England and Croatia on June 23 and 27, respectively.
