Ghana’s Finance Minister, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, has announced that the 2026 budget statement and economic policy will be laid before Parliament by the end of October this year.
He made this disclosure during an interview with JoyNews on Thursday, July 24.
Dr Forson explained that the government was working diligently to ensure the timely preparation of the national budget in line with legal requirements and best fiscal management practices.
“We are aiming to present the 2026 budget to Parliament by the end of October 2025. Preparations are already underway,” he said.
He emphasised that the early presentation would afford Parliament sufficient time to debate and approve the estimates before the close of the year, ensuring smooth execution from January 2026.
“We want to avoid the delays and uncertainties of the past. This government is committed to proper planning and transparency,” Dr Forson noted.
The Finance Minister added that the budget would focus on consolidating the economic recovery, boosting job creation, and addressing the cost-of-living challenges facing ordinary Ghanaians.
“We are putting together a people-centred budget that reflects our vision of sustainable growth, fiscal discipline, and social equity,” he assured.
