Bolgatanga Senior High School has unveiled the Smart Urban Farm, a solar-powered integrated system combining poultry rearing and hydroponic crop cultivation.
The innovation is designed to optimise limited urban space for food production while reducing dependence on traditional energy sources.
By harnessing solar power, the system ensures reliable operation for poultry management and plant growth, offering a sustainable approach to addressing food security challenges in urban communities.
The project was featured at the zonal stage of the Energy Commission’s Senior High Schools Renewable Energy Challenge, aimed at inspiring young innovators to develop eco-friendly solutions for national development.
The 2025 Renewable Energy Challenge is the 6th edition of the Energy Commission.
