Finance Minister, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, has assured Parliament and the Ghanaian public that the country is firmly on the path to economic reset and recovery, as pledged by President John Mahama during the 2024 election campaign.
Delivering the 2025 Mid-Year Budget Review in Parliament on Thursday, Dr Forson stated that the government’s deliberate economic interventions over the past six months have already begun to ease the financial pressure on ordinary Ghanaians and businesses.
“Mr Speaker, this is the reset President Mahama promised. It has been six months of hard work. We have lessened the burden on households and businesses,” the Minister said.
Dr Forson further sought to dispel criticism that the government has not been disbursing funds as expected.
“Rt. Hon. Speaker, contrary to the perception that we are not spending, we are indeed spending and spending at the right places.”
He outlined the government’s approach as one of targeted investment rather than indiscriminate expenditure.
According to the Minister, funds are being channelled into essential sectors including health, education, agriculture, and job creation — with particular emphasis on social protection and restoring confidence in public institutions.
