The 2025 edition of the Lalla Meryem Cup, the 28th in its history, is currently underway at the majestic Royal Golf Dar Es Salam in Rabat, Morocco.

England’s Bronte Law, who secured a three-shot victory at last year’s event, is back to defend her title.

She faces strong competition, including four African representatives – three Moroccans – vying for the top prize.

Sofia Cherif

The rising star of Moroccan golf. At just 16 years, she already boasts an impressive track record despite her young age.

African Champion in November last year, she claimed 1st place at the Stacy Lewis Junior All-Star Invitational and the AJGA Junior at Parris Island, secured 2nd place at the Greenwood Junior Championship and finished 3rd at the R&A Junior Open.

The youngest player to make the cut at the Lalla Meryem Cup in 2023, she finished 42nd in 2024. Sofia is once again one of the players to watch.

Ines Laklalech

One of the standout golfers from Morocco is Ines who achieved the best nation’s performance in the history of the Lalla Meryem Cup with a 7th place finish.

As Morocco’s flag bearer at the Olympic Games, she also ended the season brilliantly with four top 10 finishes, solidifying her place among the elite of the Ladies European Tour for a third consecutive year in 2025.

Maha Haddioui

In 2024, the Moroccan secured her spot among Europe’s elite for the 12th consecutive season with a 6th place finish at the Hero Women’s Indian Open.

A key figure on the Ladies European Tour, Maha exemplifies consistency and has paved the way for many young Moroccan golfers.

She remains an inspiring figure in the world of golf and a role model for future generations.

Casandra Alexander

The South African turned professional in 2018 and joined the Sunshine Ladies Tour, where she won the 2020 Investec Royal Swazi Open and the 2021 Joburg Ladies Open, finishing second in the 2021 Order of Merit.

She became a member of the Ladies European Tour in 2020 but missed most of the season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In November 2020, she made a breakthrough by winning the Saudi Ladies Team International alongside Emily Kristine Pedersen and Michele Thomson, sinking the winning putt. In 2021, she played 12 LET events and finished 73rd in the Order of Merit.

The final comes off on Saturday, February 8, 2025.

The Lalla Meryem Cup is one of the flagship tournaments on the women’s professional circuit.

Having been launched in 1993 by His Late Majesty Kiang Hassan ||, the competition has offered a remarkable platform for world-renowned female golfers.
