Ghanas Gaming Commission (GCG) has indefinitely closed down one of Ghanas biggest sports betting company-Safaribet Sports Betting.
The Gaming Commission announced this in a public notice advertised publicly on Monday April 15, 2019. It warned the general public from dealing with the betting company.
Apparently, Safaribet incurred the anger of the Gaming Commission when the betting company refused to pay one Theophilus Morgan, a young Ghanaian who won an amount of GHC57million (US$ 12 million) last year.
The case has been dragging to court since the jackpot refuses to be honoured. Information gathered by Whatsup News indicates that Mr. Morgan has wagered on 220 betting slips and won them all in a rare jackpot, but when it was time for redeeming his rare win from the shocked Safaribet operators-African Gaming and Entertainment Trading Ltd, it degenerated into a hide and seek game, forcing the peeved winner to head to court.
The. general public is hereby advised not to conduct any form of betting on Safaribets betting platform or any of their shops and branches, the Gaming commission stated in its notice as a bid to send a clear message to other betting companies operating in Ghana.
