President Akufo-Addo, Bawumia Eulogize Late V.C.R.A.C Crabbe

President Nana Akufo-Addo has described the passing of Justice Vincent Cyril Richard Arthur Charles Crabbe as a loss to the state.

President Nana Addo on behalf of Government expressed his heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Justice Crabbe.

In a Facebook post, President Nana Akufo-Addo described Justice Crabbe as a respected “public servant, and an eminent jurist who served his country with distinction”

According to President Nana Akufo-Addo, Justice Crabbe has contributed immensely to Ghana’s jurisprudence and development as the 1st Chairperson of the Electoral Commission.

“Respected public servant, eminent jurist, 1st Ghanaian Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Justice of the Supreme Court, accomplished Ghanaian and patriot, he served his country with distinction, and contributed immensely to our nation’s jurisprudence and development” the president posted.

The President said Justice VRACC Crabbe was committed to the advancement of Ghana even in old age.

He further described him as a dedicated Nationalist and a fine gentleman.

“His discipline, honesty and integrity made him an outstanding servant of the Ghanaian people and of the public interest. His objective was always the advancement of Ghana, and not partisan considerations. Even in old age, he continued to make crucial interventions in our nation’s discourse. Ghana has lost a dedicated nationalist and fine gentleman”.

Ghana has lost an icon – Bawumia
The Vice-President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, also described the late Professor Crabbe as a fearless advocate for the rule of law. Dr. Bawumia said Ghana has lost an icon.

“I have learnt with grief, the passing of His Lordship Prof. Vincent Cyril Richard Arthur Charles Crabbe, popularly known as V.C.R.A.C Crabbe.

He played an unprecedented role in the development of law, as well as democratic institutions in Ghana, and was a fearless advocate. He would very much be missed. I sympathize with his family. Ghana has lost an icon.” The Vice-President posted on his Facebook page.

Justice Crabbe dies at age 95
The former Supreme Court judge Vincent Cyril Richard Arthur Charles Crabbe, has died aged 95.

The renowned judge is reported to have died Friday morning after a short illness.

V.C.R.A.C. Crabbe was Special Commissioner to the 1968 Constitutional Commission; Legislative Draftsmen to the 1969 Constituent Assembly which drafted the 1969 Constitution of Ghana.

He was the Chairman of the 1979 Constituent Assembly and took part in the drafting of the 1979 Constitution of Ghana.
