The National Service Authority (NSA) has instructed all National Service Personnel (NSP) posted to institutions under the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOSAG) to continue reporting to work despite the Association’s ongoing industrial action.
In a statement issued on Thursday, March 12, the Authority emphasised that personnel undertaking national service are not parties to the strike declared by CLOSAG and therefore must not withdraw their services.
According to the NSA, the strike action undertaken by CLOSAG does not extend to National Service Personnel because they are not members of the Association.
As such, the Authority stressed that the industrial action should not affect the duties and responsibilities assigned to service personnel stationed in institutions where CLOSAG members work.
“National Service Personnel are not members of CLOSAG and are therefore not covered by the strike action,” the Authority stated.
The NSA further directed all affected personnel to continue reporting to their designated places of posting and to carry out their duties in accordance with the expectations of the national service programme.
“Accordingly, all NSP serving in institutions under CLOSAG are required to continue reporting to their respective places of posting and carry out their assigned duties as expected.”

The directive applies to NSP deployed across ministries, departments, agencies and local government institutions where workers affiliated with CLOSAG are currently observing the industrial action.
Management of the National Service Authority urged all personnel to remain committed to their responsibilities, noting that their presence and support remain essential to the functioning of the institutions to which they have been assigned.
The Authority also encouraged service personnel to demonstrate professionalism and dedication while carrying out their national assignments during the period of the strike.
“The Authority urges all affected NSP to remain committed to their national duty and offer their services in support of the institutions to which they have been assigned,” the statement said.
The NSA expressed appreciation to National Service Personnel across the country for their continued cooperation and dedication, acknowledging their role in supporting public institutions and contributing to national development.
“The Authority appreciates the cooperation and dedication of all National Service Personnel in contributing to national development,” the statement concluded.
