Musicians gang up against former Prez Obour; appeal to Ghanaians not to vote for him

Some Musicians have joined forces to campaign against former President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Bice Osei Kufour (Obour) who is seeking to run as a New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary candidate for the Asante Akyem South constituency in the Ashanti region.

According to Rapper and CEO of AMG record label Criss Waddle, Obour is selfish and mismanaged the affairs of musicians during his stint as President of their association.

Taking to his Twitter page on Monday, Criss Waddle who started the conversation with a campaign picture of Obour tweeted, “Pls don’t VOTE for this Guy, he’s a waste of time and a selfish person, 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾  stomach Politician.”

The tweet generated over 10.7K likes, 2.2 K retweets and over 1.2K comments including that of colleague Rapper, D-Black who also insisted that Obour be made to account for how he managed the finances of the MUSIGA while he served as President.

“Until he accounts for his time at Musiga and how the finances of Musiga were managed and how it benefited the ‘Musicians of Ghana’ positively, I agree with u 100 per cent!!! Very disappointed in how his administration steered the affairs of our Music Body. Selfish Greedy Unaccountable,” he wrote.

Musician Worlasi who also retweeted the post alleged that Obour is venturing into politics because of money.

“The man wan eat allow, 😂😂😂😂 the money all Dey politics 💰… he has seen the light, 💡,” he tweeted.

Since declaring his intention to run for the Asante Akyem South seat, Obour has unfortunately not been able to get an overwhelming support of Musicians in the country amidst accusations he failed to put their welfare at heart.

In February this year, Veteran musician Gyedu-Blay Ambolley accused Obour of sharing a GH¢2 million government fund for musicians among his cronies.

Dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale, last year, was also one of many who believed the leadership of Obour as MUSIGA President had failed big-time.

“People are afraid to say the truth but you know how straight forward Shatta Wale is. Obour was a big-time failure as the president of MUSIGA and he knows himself,” he said in an interview with Graphic Showbiz last year.

All these reactions, to some, is bad publicity for Obour and he may have a hard time convincing many people why they should vote for him in the upcoming Parliamentary primaries.
