The people of Ayawaso Central Municipal Assembly today saw some of their leaders in a massive clean-up of some parts of the Municipality.
Just as His Excellency the President Nana Akufo-Addo said, “we should be citizens and not spectators”. Accra will be the cleanest city in Africa, the Accra Regional Minister, Honourable Henry Quartey in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Organisation – NADMO, the GHANA Armed Forces, the Ghana Police Service, the Ghana National Fire Service, the Immigration Service, and some indigenes of the Ayawaso Central Municipal Assembly in the Greater Accra Region conducted a clean- up exercise to keep Accra and its environs clean and healthy devoid of any unforeseen disaster.
This move as initiated by the Greater Accra Regional Minister commenced by cleaning and desilting the huge drain behind Paloma Hotel and its environs.
The Ghana National Fire Service involved themselves massively with three of their fire fighting thunders to flash clean the gutter and put off any fire made during the exercise.
In an interview with the Municipal Chief Executive, Honourable Alhaji Mohammed Quaye, he opened up that, the clean-up exercise as done today will not be a nine-day wonder but will be carried out through the entire Capital from hence. Asked why just a few indigenes participated in the exercise, the MCE said, his outfit did not serve the indigenes notice on time.

According to him, the exercise is to be of interest to everyone to curb any flood of the Capital city during the rainy season.
The Regional Director of NADMO Mr. Archibald Cobina speaking to the media pointed out the need for this exercise and called for all and sundry to get involved in such clean- up exercises to realize the president’s dream of Accra being the cleanest city in Africa and avoid any unforeseen future flood disasters.
