President John Dramani Mahama has commemorated the first anniversary of his sweeping election victory on December 7, 2025, expressing deep gratitude to Ghanaians and reaffirming his commitment to the country’s transformation agenda.
President Mahama won the 2024 general election with 6,328,397 votes, representing 56.55% of the total valid votes cast. His closest contender, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), secured 4,657,304 votes, representing 41.61%, marking Mahama’s significant return to the presidency after leaving office in 2017.
In a reflective post shared on Instagram, the President celebrated the determination of millions who queued to vote last year, motivated by hope and confidence in his #ResettingGhana vision.
“Thank you, Ghanaians. You believed in the promise of a #ResettingGhana agenda. You trusted in our collective vision to ‘Build the Ghana We Want’,” he wrote.
President Mahama also applauded the National Democratic Congress (NDC) grassroots, campaign teams, and polling agents, describing them as “the heartbeat of this victory.” He credited their vigilance with protecting the integrity of the 2024 election and thwarting attempts to undermine the people’s will.
Reaffirming his inclusive governance philosophy, the President pledged to continue building “a Ghana for all our people, without discrimination, without exclusion, without favouritism.” He stressed that The Ghana We Want is “not a dream deferred but a promise in progress.”
Mr. Mahama reiterated that his administration—together with Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang—is fully committed to creating opportunities, restoring hope, and strengthening trust in national institutions as part of the #ResettingGhana agenda.
“To my NDC family, hold on tight. Your reward is not just in positions or appointments, but in the Ghana we are building together—delivering a Ghana where your children will have opportunities, where justice prevails, and where hard work is rewarded,” he added.
He further assured citizens that “the journey continues” and “the work goes on,” thanking both Ghanaians and the NDC family for their unwavering support.
