Inter Miami capped off a historic night as Lionel Messi inspired the club to its first-ever MLS Cup title, beating the Vancouver Whitecaps 3–1.
Messi produced two assists, setting up Rodrigo De Paul and later Tadeo Allende, to guide Miami to a 3–1 victory.
His performances throughout the playoffs earned him the MLS Cup MVP award.
In all competitions, the 38-year-old won the 2025 Golden Boot with 29 goals and added 19 assists to finish with 48 goal contributions.
In 2023/24, his first full season in the MLS, Messi finished the campaign with 20 goals and 10 assists in just 19 matches as Miami clinched the Supporters’ Shield and set a new points record.
Saturday’s victory now crowns a three-year journey for the Argentine since joining the club in 2023.
