New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has kicked off his Central Regional campaign tour with a strong commitment to improving healthcare delivery in the region, announcing major support in the form of long-lasting medical equipment and infrastructure.
Speaking during a visit to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, Mr. Agyapong said he deliberately chose to start his regional tour with a donation drive to demonstrate his dedication to his home region.
“Today, I decided to come here because I’m from the Central Region,” he said. “I’ve been doing or giving donations to other regions without my own region. So tell me what you want.”
He emphasised that he was not interested in short-term interventions that would soon become obsolete.
“I don’t want a bus. A bus will break down and my name will die. I want to do something that will last forever and ever,” he stated.
Mr. Agyapong explained that his vision was to invest in durable healthcare infrastructure that his family could continue to maintain in the future.
“If I’m not here, my son, I pray for him to live long, he will always maintain that block and the equipment involved,” he added.
The former Assin Central MP, who is intensifying his campaign for the NPP’s presidential slot, went on to announce several major donations to the hospital.
He pledged to supply at least five dialysis machines by February 2026, citing the nationwide shortage of renal care equipment.
“When we talk of dialysis, in February I’ll make sure at least I buy five for this hospital,” he assured.
Mr. Agyapong also disclosed that he had ordered 200 emergency hospital beds, which he promised to deliver in the first week of February.
“I also have ordered hospital beds for emergency. I’ll give you 200 in the first week of February,” he said.
